- What is a command palette?
A command palette is a user interface element that provides a centralized place for users to access a variety of commands.
It is typically implemented as a dropdown menu or modal dialog box that can be accessed through a keyboard shortcut or a dedicated button in the user interface.
The command palette allows users to quickly and easily access a wide range of functionality without having to navigate through multiple menus or use complex keyboard shortcuts.
- Where are command palettes used?
Command palettes are often used in applications that are heavily keyboard-driven, as they provide a convenient way for users to access a wide range of commands without having to remember complex keyboard shortcuts.
They are also often used in applications that have a large number of commands or features, as they provide a way for users to quickly find and access the commands they need without having to search through multiple menus or use trial and error to find the right command.
- What is Magny command palette?
Magny is an universal in-app search service and command palette that helps users easily access any feature of your app, and discover things they didn't even know existed.
- How can I open Magny command palette?
By default, Magny uses Cmd-K in MacOS or Ctrl-K in Windows or Linux.
- What kind of apps is Magny useful for?
Magny is a great match, especially for those built as SaaS. You can also use the embedded Magny widget within on-premises apps as well. The only thing you would need is that it requires Javascript to run.
- How long does it take to implement Magny?
For most of the projects, we see the first up-and-running widgets in 15 minutes after going over the documentation. It takes roughly an hour to add a few commands and actions and set it live in your app.
- Can I get help with the installation?
For Pro subscribers, we support you throughout the analysis, implementation and helping your PMs and development teams to make sure you get the most out of Magny command palette.
Usually our implementation and support calls take 45 minutes and we repeat this process without an additional charge, until you are satisfied with Magny.
- Will my SaaS app work with Magny?
As long as you can run a few lines of JavaScript, yes.
- How technical should I be to use Magny command palette?
Magny requires a few lines of code to be inserted in your dashboard. You also would need to add categories and commands so that users can search for the right context and see what is relevant for them. Usually this takes a few hours to implement on the dashboard side.
On the SaaS end, you would talk to your development team on how to route those commands in the app itself. We suggest that you make a list of commands and corresponding actions so that you can share this list with the development team.
- What is the tech stack behind Magny?
Our platform is based on React, hence your app should have the capability to integrate React JS code. In the future, we’ll implement more frameworks. On the backend side there is GraphQL and PostgreSQL.
- Is there a mobile version of Magny?
Not yet- we are building one as we received a few requests for this.
- Can I customize the Magny bar?
Yes, this is our number 1 priority. Many early adopters wanted to make sure the Magny bar's theme, colors and fonts matched with their brands, hence we built a quite flexible environment.
- Does Magny have free trial?
Magny doesn’t have a free trial, but a free-to-use Starter tier without a time limit. This tier has all the functionality required to start the Magny command palette service. If you want to upgrade (which will make us quite happy, there is another tier, Pro, with a lot more features packed into the product.
- How does the pricing work?
Our pricing is either monthly or annual subscription. We don’t charge you based on seats or monthly users.
- What types of payment methods do you accept?
We accept most major credit cards. Everything is securely handled by Stripe.
- Do you offer refunds?
We offer a 30-day refund. No questions asked. No forms filled. We promise.
- Is Magny compliant with the GDPR?
Magny is fully compliant with the GDPR. You can read the details of our GDPR compliance, data we collect, and the procedures for handling GDPR-related requests in our Privacy Policy.
- Which plan is right for me?
Magny offers 3 different plans:
Starter, perfect for those just starting out. It offers all the essential features including unlimited users, unlimited projects, recommendations, help center search and user feedbacks.
Pro, for those who want more advanced features to keep their users engaged and their business flowing. It has additional features like helpdoc integration, advanced analytics, detailed UI customization options, audit logs, SLA and premium support.
Enteprise, where you can deploy Magny on your own premises together with the option to get all source code, so you can build plugins on top of Magny to extend Magny's offerings. Get in touch with us so we can discuss your requirements.
- Will you keep Magny free?
Magny Starter plan is and will always be free for product managers and developers. In the future we will present more options, however, the core platform will remain completely free with unlimited users and projects.
- How do you protect your customer's data?
Your data is safe with Magny. We’ll never rent, sell or otherwise share your data with any third parties. Magny doesn’t collect personally identifiable information (PII).
- Where do you store my data?
Our data storage center is located in the US and has an information storage security certificate (ISO 27001). We are also working on another cloud center service in the EU to make sure we can answer the most strict questions of our EU customers.
